Hypnagogic Hallucinations: Visions By My Bed

ADRIANA POLITO is an award-winning writer, director and producer from Glasgow. She now lives in the North West of England with her husband, Tom.

Her production company, Stay Curious Productions, was formed in 2009 and acts as a community-focused artistic platform for collaborative story-telling.

Her short horror debut is called ‘She-Wolf Of The Woods’ and in 2011, in collaboration with The Antonine Theatre Group, she took her play ‘Anyone For A Witch Hunt?’ to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The subject matter, about the trials and tribulations of those involved in the 16th century North Berwick Witch Trials, is a subject still very close to her heart.

In 2018 she self-published her debut novel, ‘The World Within’, a metaphysical sci-fi adventure inspired by the topic of Hypnagogia. Its prequel novella followed in 2020, entitled‘Six Shamans And A Visionary’. Both books were re-launched at the 82nd World Science Fiction Convention at Glasgow’s SEC.

Whilst on a work-trip in Rome for the British Council, Adriana settled down for sleep in her hotel room on Via Cavour. Somewhere between wakefulness and sleep, the holographic image of a small cherub-looking boy with golden curls and a kind smile flew towards her face in the dark of night. He may have been the catalyst in Adriana’s life-long obsession with this mysterious night-time phenomena, but he was only the beginning…
